Core Values
We highly value and are extraordinarily committed to:
OBEDIENCE—
We believe that God has called us to personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and that a consistent and deepening spiritual journey with Him results in a personal commitment to share the gospel. We will be on mission with God, and we will help other “on mission” Christians to obediently fulfill God’s call to make disciples and minister to a hurting world.
EVANGELISM—
We believe that God has called us to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all people. We will focus our lives on faithful and effective evangelism which results in new disciples and new congregations. URGENCY— We believe that the spiritual needs of our day are vast and immediate. We will commit to an urgent, sacrificial, and passionate pursuit of new disciples at any cost.
CHURCHES—
We believe the local church is to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and led by her pastor. We further believe that the local church is God’s primary redemptive influence and instrument in the world today. We will assist local churches in multiplying that redemptive influence through Christians mobilized for evangelism and through healthy new congregations designed to reach new groups of people and all people groups.
TEAMWORK—
We believe that diversely-gifted Christians are most productive in a selfless atmosphere of shared responsibility, and mutual humility and servanthood. We will encourage teamwork as the primary model for working together, valuing relationships over structure and group victories over isolated successes as the best way to accomplish our mission.
DIVERSITY—
We believe that God is the creator of diversity. We will support and celebrate the diversity of our churches and people to His honor and glory.
PARTNERSHIP—
We believe there is great strength and synergy when cooperation is based on shared values and a noble mission. We will identify and develop mutually-beneficial partnership with individuals and groups that share our biblically-based commitment to the Great Commission. We will work with churches, associations, other state Baptist conventions, other entities within the Southern Baptist framework, and within the larger community of evangelical Christians to develop, mobilize, and assist a growing network of “on mission” Christians.
ACCOUNTABILITY—
We believe that the Cooperative Program and other resources are a gift from God’s abundance through the sacrificial obedience of His people, and that we manage these and all other resources with both spiritual stewardship and fiscal responsibility. We will honor those who give by following mission-driven and strategy-governed budgets; by maximizing income and minimizing expenses; and by driving every possible dollar toward the direct, measurable fulfillment of our stated mission.
EXCELLENCE—
We believe that the excellence of God’s character and handiwork should be reflected in our lives and ministries as Christians. We will prioritize spiritual development and professional competence. We will pursue personnel, products, and processes which demonstrate high quality. We will constantly measure our effectiveness by clearly understood standards of excellence.
CREATIVITY—
We believe that the great things God wants to do through us require not only sacrificial time and diligent effort, but inspired creativity. We will seek unprecedented results through innovative, effective approaches led by courageous, creative people. We will decry complacency and ineffectiveness rather than fear failure or criticism.
